Mono just means one channel, and typically, a Bluetooth device that goes in one ear will be a mono Bluetooth device.īluetooth manufacturers have come a long way since mono Bluetooth headsets were invented, and many of them now have what is called A2DP technology, which allows streaming of music and sounds from your mobile device through the mono Bluetooth headset. However, not every device is able to stream music, specifically mono Bluetooth headsets. Playing music through a Bluetooth device is great – it allows for hands free enjoyment of music while you are working or exercising. In this case, the question was “ is it possible to play music through my mono Bluetooth headset?” Because of this, we get all types of questions about backups, security, operating systems, and occasionally, we get a question we have to research and find the answer to. You can easily do this while the device is playing audio by pulling the notification shade, tapping “Audio output” and selecting your currently-connected Bluetooth device. It’s also worth noting that if at any point you have this particular Bluetooth device connected and want another app (outside of the pre-selected on in Separate Sound App) to play media audio over Bluetooth, you’ll have to select your Bluetooth device as the primary output source.
Note: Notification audio isn’t the same as media audio, so this will still come through the Bluetooth device. Tap on “Audio Output,” and make sure “My phone” is selected-this will basically ensure that your selected app is the only thing that can send media audio to the Bluetooth device, and all other apps will play through the phone. Just to make sure, however, go ahead and start playing something from the app you selected above, then pull down the notification shade again. Once you’ve selected both the app and output device, everything should be set. The next step will ask you to select your output device-keep in mind that you Bluetooth device has to be connected at this point (it will only show up if it’s connected), so if you haven’t already, go ahead and do that. From here, you’ll have to select your app-for this tutorial, I’m using Google Play Music.
